The FELA injury attorneys at Peter Higgins Law represented a chef on an Amtrak train from Los Angeles to Chicago.  When the train gets to Chicago, Amtrak puts the crew up in a hotel for the night before heading back to Los Angeles the next morning.  While in the hotel, our client slipped and fell while stepping out of the shower and fractured his ankle.

Our railroad injury attorneys filed a claim against both Amtrak (under the FELA for failing to provide him with a reasonably safe place to work) and the hotel (for failing to provide mats to step on when getting out of the shower).  Peter Higgins Law provided the defendants with copies of cases which were similar to this one which held that the issue of whether the railroad was liable under the FELA for injuries sustained by an employee who slipped was for the jury to decide, where the railroad provided lodging for the employee, the employee was on call, and the railroad made no attempts to inspect the motel premises.

The case ended up settling for $70,000.00 before we filed a lawsuit.
